Romeldale CVM Sheep / Cardigan Welsh Corgis
Farm Fresh Products

Romeldale CVM Sheep
Romeldale CVM are the most critically rare sheep breeds in America. This heritage breed was developed in the 1900’s as a cross between Salt Marsh Romneys and Rambouille sheep. The original Romeldales had white fleece. In the 1970’s color and pattern variations were bred back to establish the CVM, California Variegated Mutant.

These are a dual purpose sheep, our flock of Romeldale CVM is raised for breeding stock and for beautiful fleece; a fiber artist’s dream come true. The micron count falls between 20 and 25 making this a “wear against your skin” wool. The feel is soft and luxurious and the color range is one of the most extensive of any breed of sheep. The color and pattern will not fade and will get softer every year. We keep our flock coated to achieve a clean bundle of wool.

The Tail of Two Corgis
Welsh lore says corgis were the steeds of the fairies. They are happy short legged beasts with the versatility to be whatever you choose. As a member of the herding group they are intelligent and trainable. Cardigan Welch Corgis make excellent farm dogs having been bred to herd.

The Welsh Corgi is two distinctive breeds; the oldest and original is the Cardigan Welsh Corgi. The one with the tail. They have been traced back 3000 years to the Teckel line of dogs, which also produced the Dachshund.

Cardigans are 25 to 38lbs and 10.5” to 12.5” at the shoulder. Cardi’s have a wide range of colors that are acceptable in the breed including blue merle and brindle. Both of those colors are distinct to very few breeds.
