Heritage breeds were developed in the past for specific needs. They are well adjusted to the environment they were developed in. Many are becoming endangered due to various factors, including factory farming. In the case of Romeldale CVM, they were bred to be dual purpose sheep. They have a soft wool which can be worn against the skin which has a wide range of colors; color that doesn't fade with age. The lambs are also a good market weight if they are raised for consumption. We raise our animals for breeding stock and wool only.
We raise these sheep to be breeders, hoping the registered sheep will Increase over time, and for their glorious wool. Skirting a fleece (removing subpar quality wool and vegetable matter) is a tedious process; there always seems to be another piece of hay. We sell only the wool covered for protection from vm (vegetable matter) and the elements. Sheep will go through many sizes of coats as the wool continues to grow.
These delightful dogs are fun-loving companions. The "little big dogs" are up for anything from agility and farm work to co-pilot of your adventures. They will love cuddling on the easy chair with you but are always willing to share whatever activity they can, as long as they can spend time with you.
